Tarım Bakanlığı, AB ile başlayan Tarım ve Çevre müzakereleri çerçevesinde yediğimiz içtiğimiz her şeyi içine alan yeni yasal düzenlemeyi Başbakanlıka gönderdi. Veteriner hizmetleri, bitki sağlığı, gıda ve yem konusunda devrim niteliğindeki düzenlemelerle ilk kez hijyen konusu da yasalara girdi. Sadece sebze ve meyvelerdeki hormon, zirai ilaç, kansorejen etki tartışmalarına son verecek düzenlemeler değil, hayvan yetiştiriciliğinden kasaptaki ete varıncaya kadar yiyecek ve içecekle ilgili standartlar yeniden düzenlendi. Buna göre; üretim yapan gıda ve yem işletmecileri, bakanlıkça belirlenen hijyen kurallarına uymak zorunda kalacak.
