Former Bank of America CEO, Ken Lewis, testified June 11, 2009 to congress about the BOA&#8217;s merger with Merrill Lynch. During the hearing Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, challenged Lewis to be more forthcoming about his dealings with the Federal Reserve during the merger. Specifically Kucinich cited emails from Fed officials saying Lewis had asked government officials to provide a letter saying that they had in fact ordered Lewis to merge with the struggling financial firm, Merrill Lynch, because Lewis feared lawsuits from company shareholders if the merger led to company losses. Lewis said he did not recall asking for such a letter. After the hearing Kucinich told reporters that Lewis testimony could put the former CEO in legal jeopardy.<br />

But our eyes feel difficulty in focusing on the characters on the computer screen as these are bright at the centre and do not have well defined edges. So they tend to drift to the resting point of accommodation also known as RPA. This continuous drifting of eyes leads to staring and tiring them as therefore hampering the eyesight.</p>
<p><strong>Symptoms of computer vision syndrome:</strong></p>
<p>You may not even have an idea of being affected by computer vision syndrome. Here are a few symptoms by which you can judge your eyes and of your little ones too.</p>
<p>-	You&#8217;ll feel slight headache all the time. <br />-	You&#8217;ll face loss of focus while working on computer screen. <br />-	You&#8217;ll feel your eyes tired always with a sensation of burning. <br />-	You neck and shoulders may pain too. <br />-	You may notice double vision i.e. seeing two similar objects mingling in each other. <br />-	Your vision may also get blurred a bit.</p>
<p><strong> How to prevent computer vision syndrome </strong>:</p>
<p>If you are informed well about eyes related problems while working on computer you should take some preventive measures right from the beginning.</p>
<p>- You can arrange your work environment for better ergonomics. This will reduce your eye strain and various other visionary difficulties related to computer vision syndrome.</p>
<p>- A good and reliable pair of computer glasses may also prevent you from the predicted sight problems. It may also help you see well. But it may be bought after the proper eyesight checkup by a doctor. He may diagnose your eyesight and also determine the distance between you and your computer before recommending computer eyeglasses to you. This will surely allow you work more efficiently and comfortably.</p>
<p>-	Sitting at a right distance from the screen is also a good preventive measure against computer vision syndrome.</p>
<p>- Even glare screen filters may help you to some extent. But if you&#8217;re already a computer vision syndrome victim this will be of no use. These do not solve vision related problems but can only help you as a preventive method beforehand. Glare screen filters only affect glare from the computer screen.</p>
<p>- You may also go for an anti reflective coating on your computer eyeglasses to prevent computer vision syndrome. This blocks glare and reflections on the rare and front of the glass lenses which may intervene focusing.</p>
<p>- A 20-20-20 rule works well to help you relieve from computer vision syndrome. This means to focus the eyes for 20 seconds on an object kept 20 feet away every 20 minutes of your sitting at computer.</p>
<p>So, if you are a regular user of computer keep in mind all the computer vision syndrome preventive measure to keep your eyes safe and healthy.</p>

The aim of the group is to advance the state of the art in the fields of computer vision and robotics.  Use large image collections as data for classical computer vision problems such as object recognition.  Computer vision meets digital libraries when there are lots and lots of images. <p>This Week in Health Care Reform     </p>
<p>Health care reform legislation passed the House this week on a party-line vote. Late Sunday night, House Democrats approved the Senate health care reform package, sending the legislation to President Obama for his signature. On Tuesday, President Obama signed the underlying bill into law, yet the House has yet to finalize the package of &#8220;fixes&#8221; that will alter the final implications of the legislation.</p>
<p>Health Care Reform Negotiations</p>
<p>House Democrats Pass Health Care Reform Package: The House of Representatives approved the Senate health care reform bill Sunday night by a vote of 219 to 212. The vote marks the climactic finale to a year-long debate over health care reform. In the final vote, 34 Democrats joined all House Republicans in voting against the measure. Shortly thereafter, the House also passed a package of &#8220;fixes,&#8221; by a vote of 220-211, that was sent directly to the Senate for its approval through reconciliation. On Tuesday, President Obama signed into law the Senate health care reform bill, called the &#8220;Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.&#8221;</p>
<p>Republicans Force Senate to Send the Reconciliation Bill Back to the House: Shortly after the President signed the Senate bill into law, Senators began deliberations on the reconciliation bill. Reconciliation protocol restricts Senators to 20 hours of debate on the measure, but it does not limit the number of amendments that can be filed. In an expression of opposition to the bill, Republicans filed 29 amendments to the reconciliation package.</p>
<p>After 10 hours of continuous debate, Republicans were successful in eliminating two provisions related to college financial aid in the non-health care portion of the bill. The Senate parliamentarian ruled early Thursday morning that those two provisions violated the chamber&#8217;s rules, sending the legislation back to the House for a new vote. As a result, on Thursday afternoon, the Senate voted on the reconciliation bill without those two provisions and sent the bill  back to the House for a vote on final passage. The House vote will likely come Thursday evening.</p>
<p>What Does This Health Care Reform Legislation Mean: While the health care reform bill extends insurance coverage to 32 million more Americans by 2019, the legislation has other far-reaching implications that will be phased in sooner, during a multi-year implementation period.</p>
<p>Several features of the new health care overhaul bill that would take effect in 2010 under the measure passed Sunday include:</p>
<p> * New product requirements beginning 6 months after enactment, including: <br /> o Coverage for dependents up to age 26<br /> o No lifetime maximum benefit limits<br /> o And no cost sharing on preventive care for certain policyholders <br /> * Temporary federal high risk pools;<br /> * Tax credits for small employers; and<br /> * Prohibition on pre-existing condition exclusions for children (beginning 6 months after enactment).</p>
<p>Most Americans will have until 2014 to purchase insurance or pay a penalty. Other elements of the bill that will not take effect until at least 2014 include insurance marketplaces called &#8220;exchanges&#8221;; rules requiring insurers to accept all applicants regardless of pre-existing conditions, and an expansion of state Medicaid programs.</p>
<p>A number of experts question whether health care reform will really drive down insurance premiums. America&#8217;s Health Insurance Plans ( AHIP), the trade group representing health insurers, outlines a series of concerns related to the legislation including a lack of provisions that address underlying health care costs, improve quality of care or ensure a stable risk pool. In addition, AHIP expressed concerns regarding new taxes on health coverage, which will likely increase premiums.</p>
<p>Additional Activities</p>
<p>Obama&#8217;s Executive Order on Abortion Funding: On Sunday afternoon, prior to the final House vote on health care reform, President Obama agreed to issue an Executive Order that would uphold the ban on federal funding for abortion . In so doing, he secured about a half-dozen votes from anti-abortion Democrats, led by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), who previously opposed the legislation. On Wednesday, President Obama signed the Executive Order banning the government from spending federal money to pay for abortions through plans offered on the insurance exchanges created under the measure.</p>
<p>States Filing Lawsuit to Fight Provision of Health Care Reform Bill: In response to the new health care reform legislation, states across the country have filed lawsuits asking the courts to declare the law unconstitutional and to bar its enforcement. On Monday,Attorneys General in 13 states, led by Florida, filed a joint lawsuit claiming that the new health care reforms violate state government rights in the U.S. Constitution and will force massive new spending on hard-pressed state governments. Joining Florida in the suit are Alabama, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington.</p>
<p>At the same time, the Attorney General in Virginia filed a separate suit contending that Congress has exceeded its power in mandating that people buy health insurance. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli argues that the new law&#8217;s requirement clashes with Virginia law that exempts citizens from federal fines imposed for not having health insurance.</p>
<p>Senate Voting to Extend COBRA Until May 5:  Senate Democrats plan another short-term extension of unemployment aid this week, setting up a face-off with Republicans, who are vowing to fight the extension if the $10 billion cost isn&#8217;t offset with spending cuts. The bill, currently set to expire on April 5, would extend a series of emergency programs &#8211; including funding for unemployment insurance benefits and COBRA health coverage for the jobless  &#8211; and would hold off a deep cut in reimbursement rates for doctors who serve Medicare patients. The long-term extension has already passed in both the House and Senate, but the two measures are not expected to be reconciled and sent to the President&#8217;s desk until after the Easter recess.</p>
<p>President Obama Heads to Iowa to Speak on Health Care: President Obama headed to Iowa on Thursday to increase support for his health care legislation. This was President Obama&#8217;sfirst trip out ofWashington since signing health care reform legislation earlier this week. He spoke at the University of Iowa, in the city where he first announced his health care proposal during the Presidential campaign.</p>
<p>Public Opinion </p>
<p>Most Americans Want Republicans to Fight Health Care Reform Bill: In a recent CBS News poll, 62 percent of Americans said they want congressional Republicans to continue challenging the bill, while 33 percent said they should not. Disapproval of the bill has remained steady, with 46 percent saying they disapprove, including 32 percent who &#8220;strongly&#8221; disapprove. A majority of Americans continue to say that they find the bill to be confusing and do not understand what it means for them or their family.</p>
<p>American&#8217;s Split on Health Care Reform Passage: In a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, 42 percent of Americans said they were angry or disappointed with the recent passage of health care reform legislation. When asked to reveal party affiliation, 79 percent identified themselves as Republicans.</p>
<p>Polling Shows Support for State Lawsuits Against Government: National polling reveals significant opposition to the individual mandate. In a newly released Rasmussen report , 53 percent of those polled oppose the new mandate requiring every American to buy or obtain health insurance. Further, 49 percent of voters are in favor of their state suing the federal government to fight the mandate. Fifty-one percent say individual states should have the right to opt out of the health care plan entirely.</p>
<p>Looking Ahead </p>
<p>After this week&#8217;s final health care reform vote, President Obama plans to travel the country in the next few months to discuss the new law. Republicans have begun their own discussions of the law, with an eye towards the November elections. </p>

<p>OneWorld Community Health Center is looking for 6,000 kids.</p>
<p>The agency that generally provides health care to the underserved has received $706,264 from the federal government to create a program to enroll thousands of children in either of two government insurance programs for low-income children.</p>
<p>Many metro-area children are eligible but aren&#8217;t enrolled because their families don&#8217;t know the programs exist or don&#8217;t know their kids could qualify, said Andrea Skolkin, chief executive officer of OneWorld. That means some of those children are going without health care or are getting far less than they could.</p>
<p>OneWorld&#8217;s goal is to enroll at least 6,000 children. The agency&#8217;s outreach effort has just begun.OneWorld will place staff members in day care centers, schools, after-school programs, churches, food pantries, organizations and other places.</p>
<p>“We want to be where people are versus making people come to us,” Skolkin said.</p>
<p>They will contact families at those sites and determine whether they have children who qualify but aren&#8217;t enrolled in Medicaid or the state&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Health Insurance Program.</p>
<p>The staff members will have laptops to take down information and scanners to scan in citizenship documents and proof of Nebraska residency. Children must be citizens to receive the health care benefits.</p>
<p>The agency also will take referrals. For information, call 502-8888.</p>
<p>OneWorld, based in the Livestock Exchange Building, 4920 S. 30th St., has hired a director and will employ five full-time staffers for the program. OneWorld also has a clinic in Plattsmouth.</p>
<p>President Barack Obama this year allocated $40 million to agencies in 42 states and Washington, D.C., for programs to conduct enrollment efforts over the next two years.</p>
<p>Through a competitive process, OneWorld was one of 69 entities to receive money. Iowa doesn&#8217;t have a program among the 69. An additional $40 million will be distributed in 2012.</p>
<p>Enrollment among children in Medicaid and the Children&#8217;s Health Insurance Program has gradually risen in Iowa and Nebraska. The economy has worsened and awareness of the programs has broadened, spokesmen in Iowa and Nebraska say.</p>
<p>A child qualifies for Medicaid if his family&#8217;s annual income is at or somewhat above the federal poverty level, which is $18,310 for a family of three.</p>
<p>Qualifying for CHIP isn&#8217;t as stringent. In Iowa, the state raised the CHIP ceiling this year to 300 percent of the federal poverty level, or $54,930 for a family of three. Nebraska raised its income ceiling for CHIP from 185 percent this year to 200 percent, or $36,620 for a family of three.</p>
<p>The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has estimated there may be close to 15,000 eligible children who aren&#8217;t enrolled. The Iowa Department of Public Health estimated there could be as many as 38,000 children who aren&#8217;t covered.</p>

<p>Cholesterol refers waxy and fatty like substance that is formed in the body. Our liver is primarily responsible for developing cholesterol in our body system. It is an important substance that supports various vital functions in our body such as maintaining healthy cellular walls, building hormones and vitamin D. </p>

<p>Also, it helps in building bile acids in our body that gives support to the digestion of fat in particular. However, there is a saying that &#8220;too much of anything is good for noting&#8221; and it is also true in this case. Sometimes, our body produces cholesterol more than actually required. High level of cholesterol in our blood stream always puts us in high risk by increasing the possibility of heart diseases and strokes.  </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Diet plays a significant role in the management of cholesterol in our body system. The level of cholesterol in our body increases if we eat excessive amount of saturated fat in our diet. The saturated fat is common in animal based foods like meat and dairy products. So it is always recommended that you should maintain a healthy diet in order to have a good control on your level of cholesterol. Let us discuss few guidelines for cholesterol lowering diets:  </p>
<p><b>Diet low in saturated fat</b>  </p>

<p>In general, the food we take in our regular diet is a combination of saturated and unsaturated fat. Saturated fat actually increases the cholesterol level in our blood. It is primarily found from animal products such as meat, dairy products, and lard as well as also from few vegetable oils like coconut oil and palm oil. </p>

<p>So it is always advisable that you should stay away from all these substances if you have a high cholesterol level or even if you have a family history of the same. You can always alter your diet from these apparently harmful substances to cholesterol lowering diets full of green vegetables and fruits &#8211; they are really beneficial for your health.  </p>
<p><b>Diet low in total fat</b>  </p>

<p>It is always recommended that you should have a minimum level of fat in your regular diet. It is because the food high in total fat has a high level of saturated fat. It is always better that you must substitute your fat food with unsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat for saturated one. If you like to include unsaturated fat in your diet, you may depend on having olive oil or canola oil in your cholesterol lowering diet, whereas, for polyunsaturated diet, safflower oil, sunflower oil or corn flower oil can be a good choice for you.  </p>
<p><b>Diet low in cholesterol</b>  </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Dietary cholesterol increases the level of cholesterol in your blood. So it is always advisable that you select your diet low in cholesterol. Generally, animal products are high in dietary cholesterol, so refrain from it in your cholesterol lowering diet as much as possible even if you have a family history of high cholesterol level.  </p>
<p><b>Diet high in starch and fiber</b>  </p>

<p>It is highly recommended that you must add starch and fiber in your regular diet to make it a cholesterol lowering diet. It is available in green vegetables, fruits, breads, grains, corns, dry beans, peas and cereals. It offers a low calorie diet compared to high fat food. Not only that, it also aids in deriving a good amount of vitamins and minerals. </p>

<p>If you are able to switch your diet from saturated to the diet full of starch and fiber, certainly it will enhance your health condition. Of course, it will help you lowering the level of cholesterol in your blood. The bright colored fruits also help in preventing cholesterol from being chemically altered due to its antioxidant property.  </p>

<p>Following a low fat diet always increases the possibility to have a healthy system. It will help you reducing calories, extra fat and weight from your body. Obesity is truly threatening for developing heart disease, diabetes and even cancer. Overweight definitely increases the risk high blood cholesterol level. To fight with obesity, you must maintain a healthy cholesterol lowering diet along with regular exercise.</p>

<p>MINUS DIET SUPER SOUP</p>

<p>1lb. bag of baby carrots rinsed</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>2 cups fresh spinach</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>1/2 bunch of celery</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>1-4 cloves of garlic</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>1 red or green bell pepper</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>1 stalk of broccoli</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>1 cup of brown rice(uncooked)</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>1 large can of diced or stewed tomatoes</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>2 packages of onion soup mix</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Mrs. Dash&#8217;s herb seasoning to cover top of soup ( your choice of mix)</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Large 2 gallon stock pot (stainless steel)</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Cut up all the above ingredients.   Add water to cover.  Bring to a boil.  Simmer for 1 hour.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>		This makes enough soup for one for about 1`week.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Many people prefer to start the diet on a Monday, or on the weekend on a Saturday, when working people have time to cook, and do their other chores.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	This soup will be your main meal for both lunch and dinner.  However, if you want to follow my modified version, or use this as your week off meal, then you can add chicken breast to the soup, or eat a lean  meal of chicken, steak, or other lean meat with a side salad with a light vinagrette dressing that is apple cider based.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	I recommend that you eat at least 6 times per day.  Three main meals and 3 snacks.  Or 3 main all negative calorie foods and 1 main low fat dinner with your family or by yourself, if you are single.  Always make enough soup so that you don&#8217;t run out and have none to eat.  That is a sure way to sabotage your success.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	You absolutely cannot afford to drink less than one gallon of water  or so per day.  You can squeeze some lemon or orange juice into the water (they must be fresh).  Drink before and after your meals if you can.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	If you work outside the home, make sure you have containers or thermos to carry your soup with you for lunch or dinner.  I disagree with the negative calorie diet here again.   I think you can have diet beverages like flavored water,  that are sweetened with Splenda &#8482; and drink green tea(decaffeinated) or Oolong, or some herbal tea.  I think you can have 2 glasses of skimmed milk a day, too.  A diet you don&#8217;t stay on is no diet at all.  You can make it a raw food diet with soup or also do some juice fasting.  For one of the best compendiums on fasting and juicing see both my book YOur New You, 30 days to Transform Your Body and Dr.                  How and When to Be Your onw Doctor which is a great  public domain book that has detailed instructions on both plain water and juice fasting by a natural medicine Doctor and Registered nurse. I include many bonus e-books and active forums where you can interact  with other men and women trying to lose weight and get into shape just like you. I promise you that with a little will power and determination, you can lose at least 3-5 pounds per week or more and keep it off for good, if and only if you follow the plan.    How much you lose depends on many factors, including body type, age, metabolism, and if you have any underlying chronic conditions like diabetes or  thyroid problems.   You can reduce your need for insulin by taking natural substances like cinnamon, but you absolutely must follow your health practitioners instructions to the letter if you have a chronic condition like these.   IN NO CASE CAN YOU REDUCE INSULIN SAFELY without being carefully monitored by a physician.  You must have him or her look at the plan and give you any modifications necessary to ensure your health and safety.  Don&#8217;t get discouraged.  You can still lose weight safely, naturally, and effectively even with these conditions.  It will just take more care, and maybe a little bit more time.  The main thing to remember is that you CAN do it!  If I can, you can!  You absolutely, however, even with all these fake promises, never really lose weight quickly and effectively without a combination of diet and exercise.  There really is no such thing as a &#8220;magic pill&#8221; solution or permanent weight loss without exercise.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Between meals, try to drink water or another beverage mentioned above, before you eat your snack of fruit or celery or carrots.  You can also have a fruit smoothie made with fresh fruit and ice.  Strawberries, blueberries, or a mix with grape or carrot apple juice is good, too.  I recommend that you get a juicer.  You can get a juicer at Canadian Tire for less than 150.00.  There is nothing like fresh juice to detoxify and cleanse your body.  Nothing tastes better, either.  Consider this diet a modified raw food diet with just a little bit of soup added.  A sensible dinner, too, if you want to follow that modified plan.  It is more effective if you stay on the straight, Minus Calorie diet for one week at a time, going back to  a modified form on the off weeks, eating at least 70 to 80% minus or negative calorie foods.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	In any event, no more junk food.  Eat fruit instead or drink a smoothie or some juice.  You can add two protein drinks a day or substitute one for one meal, but that will make the diet less effective, but make the hunger  pangs less.  Remember, those with more than 10 pounds to lose, need to do it gradually to keep it off, anyways.  3 to 5 pounds a week is plenty fast enough.  You may lose more with exercise, but in any event, no diet will help you lose it faster, and help you keep it off, if you follow it properly.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Remember to reward yourself with a night out, or something small, but nice for yourself.  Don&#8217;t go crazy, and mess up your diet, though.  You can drink up to 6 glasses of juice per day, plus lots of water.   The juice must be negative or minus calorie, though.  Apple/Carrot or Grape watermelon, or orange juice or strawberry cranberry or mixed will work.  Cherry can be added in season.  </p>

<p>	Breakfast is the pillar meal of the day on this diet.  Eat the fruits recommended, but you can substitute oranges or tangerines for the other fruits if you wish, but you will need to eat more.  Eat until you are full, but not stuffed.</p>

You can also take a smoothie made of the above fruits or one of the minus calorie fruits listed previously or in combination.  Six glasses of fresh fruit a day is recommended.  It must be freshly juiced in a juicer, though.  No, canned or frozen juice.  No diet soda, either.  Stay with the above recommendations.  I think you could get away with one frozen fruit bar a day.  Nothing else, though.  Anything else, and you have failed.  Salad makes a good snack, too.  Stick to vineagrette dressing or olive oil and cider vinegar, though.  </p>

<p>1ST DAY</p>

<p>Breakfast:  Eat the fruits mentioned above until comfortably full. Eat slowly and deliberately, savoring each mouthful .</p>

<p>Snack:  I don&#8217;t recommend you skip your snacks.  You will be tempted to eat outside the diet if you do.  Drink water or juice or a smoothie before the fruit and vegetables, though.  You will feel full, sooner.  </p>

<p>Lunch:  Eat some soup.  The more you eat the better.  Just remember, full, not gorged.  You can eat some salad with a light vinaigrette or olive oil and vinegar dressing, if you want.  </p>

<p>Snack:  Same as the first snack, just eat something different, for variety&#8217;s sake.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Dinner:  Eat one or two bowls of soup.  If you can eat more if you want to.  Eat as many vegetables as you want from the list.  Eat a piece of fruit, too.  No meat or fish for the first day.    Drink 6 glasses (8 oz) if juice today.  Use your juicer.  Carrot/apple is a favorite.  Strawberry/grape or Cranberry/apple or grape would be great, too.   Drink plenty of bottled water.  Squeeze fresh lemon juice or orange juice in the water if you wish, for flavor. </p>

<p>	That is all for today.  You can do it!  You only have 6 more just like it.  With a few surprises, as well.  You can almost feel the fat melting off your body.  Don&#8217;t weigh yourself on the scale until the first week is up.  Then you will have something to celebrate!</p>

If you are a diabetic make sure you keep your servings to what you are allowed under your diet.  No more.</p>

<p>	Dinner:  Great deal!  Tonight, you can have chicken or fish, after you eat at least one bowl of soup.  Measure out no more than 10 oz. of fish or chicken.  All that time without protein, means you need some now.  If you prefer, or are a vegetarian, you can substitute black beans for the meat or fish.  Just cook some or heat up a can for your self.  Have some salad for a  side dish.  Even a few servings with a light vinaigrette or olive oil and vinegar salad dressing.  You can have some water or some green tea or herbal tea too.  If it&#8217;s warm out make some iced tea.  Just don&#8217;t add any sugar.  Use stevia instead for sweetening, or a little honey. </p>

<p>	You will easily burn off the chicken or fish.  You are almost through the week and have burned off some major fat by now.  Start adding the 2x daily workouts I will show you after we get through with the menus.  See yourself getting thinner and thinner.  Wait until day 8 to weigh yourself, for the maximum results. I will give you some recipes in a separate e-book.  Make sure to drink some green tea.  Make it decaffeinated.  Drink some water 30 minutes after you eat.  Add some lemon, lime, or orange juice you squeeze from the fresh fruit into the bottle of water.</p>

<p>	Snack:   Water, please.  Have your last glass of juice for the day.  You can make yourself a nice glass of tea, too.</p>

<p>	Slap yourself a five!  You hit the finish line going 80.  Walk again and don&#8217;t forget that you should have done your twice daily workout, too.</p>

<p>	You should be feeling really firm, now.   Tomorrow is weigh yourself day, and reward yourself, day.   Just have a smoothie or something light.  Keep up the good work.  If you have more than 10 lbs. to lose than alternate your Minus Diet restricted weeks with your relaxed diet.  Otherwise, what you can do is to add meat, lean beef or chicken  or fish with  dinner.   That will slow down your weight loss initially, but you can make up for it over the long run.  You will still lose 3 to 5 pounds a week if you are exercising.  You CANNOT lose weight without some form of exercise and keep it off.  Your just fooling yourself.  But you can make it a form of exercise you enjoy.  The exercises I will show you next , will be fun, effective, fast, and easy.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	That is the best form of exercise.  One you will do, on a regular basis.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>DAY 8</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	It&#8217;s the big day you have been waiting for with bated breath.  Weigh yourself first thing in the morning.  If you followed the plan, you lost some weight!  Celebrate by doing something you enjoy.  If it&#8217;s exercise in disguise, even better.  Continue having Fruit each morning for breakfast.  Stay away from fast food.  If you have to, eat their salads with oil and vinegar or italian or low calorie dressing.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Make sure you don&#8217;t fall off the wagon, now.  Not after all your hard work.<br />&#13;</p>
<p>A lot of people sabotage themself at this point.  Just add a little meat or fish or beans to your diet.  Keep the rest minus calorie foods.  If you want, add some brown rice or a baked potato at dinner.  If you want a burger eat it without mayonnaise and substitute mustard instead.   Ask for extra vegetables on it.  Get a side salad, too.  With low calorie dressing.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Keep your six a day fix of fresh fruit juices.  Mix them up.  Add some vegetable juice twice a day.  Make sure it is from your juicer.  Juiced fruits and vegetables are more concentrated in their nutrients and tastier, too.  Make a smoothie at least 2 times a day.  Use some bottled water in it and add ice, too.  They are great for weight loss.  Try to eat at oriental restaurants and eat the steamed dishes.  Try to stay away from any more than one serving of rice.  Italian and mexican dishes are good if you stay away from the sour cream and too much pasta.   Cut up your snack fruits and vegetables or rinse and bag them in ziploc bags and store them in the refrigerator.  Keep some in the freezer for quick smoothies.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	At home get some whole wheat tortillas and make some chicken and beef fajitas.  Get a wok and make some stir fry every night you can.  I can eat it any time.  Get some flavorful sauces and add them to the pot. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	When baking substitute applesauce instead of oil.  Use stevia instead of sugar.  You can substitute olive oil for margarine or use becel margarine with some fresh garlic and use light bread if you can for great garlic bread.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	In pasta, use chicken instead of ground beef, or subtitute ground turkey or chicken.  You can also use shitake mushrooms instead of meat and make a chunky  vegetable vegetarian spaghetti sauce.  Use your imagination.  The sky is the limit.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Understand the power of this diet comes from raw foods and eating a lot of fruits and vegetables.  That is the key to it&#8217;s effectiveness.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Just substitute healthy foods for unhealthy ones.  If you must fry, use a little olive oil.  It is the best for you.  Use herbs instead of lots of salt.  Add some hot sauce or cayenne pepper or paprika to foods.  It helps rev up your metabolism.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	I just read some interesting tips in Woman&#8217;s World Magazine.  It&#8217;s my favorite diet magazine.  It always has excellent tips.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	Here they are:  </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	1.  French Fries are actually good for you &#8211; provided you prepare them properly.  French fries contain potassium- a mineral 80% of women are deficient in.    Kidney stones and brittle bones can result.  Potatoes are low in calories and loaded with fiber and potassium.  You can even cook them in oil, if you use olive oil.  Fried foods don&#8217;t cause cancer according to a study done at the Harvard School of Public Health which found that no link existed between frying foods and cancer.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	2.  Cashews are another good food.  The monosaturated fatty acids in cashews actually help to prevent blood pressure from rising.  If you eat 1 oz. of cashews about 8 minutes before a meal, you will remain satisfied from the meal 10 times longer than normal, which helps dieters immensely.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	3.  Hummus are another food that is excellent for you.  Chickpeas help women with improving blood cholesterol levels, and artery function, which helps prevent heart disease.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	4.  Garlic is another fantastic health ingredient.  Besides being an excellent natural antibiotic, it also contains sulforaphane, which protects eye cells from damage caused by the sun&#8217;s ultraviolet rays.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	5.  Iced latte is another food that is surprisingly good for you.  Coffee beans are actually berries and have more antioxidants than any other.   Coffee is  linked to lowering cancer risk, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.  Coffee also reduces the risk of headaches.  Using skim milk reduces your risk of developing high blood pressure by up to 54%. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	6.  Apple pie is also beneficial.   Eating apples reduces the risk of heart disease and helps keep your lungs working right.  Apples have a high concentration of flavonoids, an antioxidant that destroys harmful free radical toxins around us.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	7.  Cinnamon, as I told you earlier, is an excellent, spice, both taste wise and health wise.  Cinnamon both regulates insulin, and lowers blood choleterols levels by up to 26%.  In addition, cinnamon is a potent natural antibiotic that kills viruses and harmful bacteria.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	8.   Chocolate covered strawberries, and dark chocolate in general, help you on two fronts.  First, the strawberries contain fisetin, a natural substance that helps memory and prevents Alzheimer&#8217;s disease.  Dark chocolate, like cinnamon, helps regulate insulin.  I&#8217;ve also read it helps your libido, and is good for the heart, too.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>	9.  Lastly, a great energy booster is the old favorite, cheese and crackers.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>		Cheese helps prevent tooth decay, and the protein and high fiber crackers mixed together gives you long lasting energy.  In addition, the phytonutrients in flaxseed flour, if you can get it, lowers breast cancer by up to 55%. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>

<p>Kanser, dünyada ve ülkemizde kalp ve damar hastalıklarından sonra ikinci sırada görülen ölüm sebebi. Ancak kafaları kurcalayan bir soru var. O da; &#8220;Tedavi edilebilir mi?&#8221; şeklinde&#8230; Erken tanı ve doğru tedavi ise çok önemli:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Evet&#8230; Tıp alanındaki ilerlemeler ve keşifler sayesinde kanser artık tedavi edilebilir bir hastalık. Yine de kaba bir deyişle, her üç kişiden biri hayatının bir döneminde kanserle karşılaşıyor ama yaklaşık sekiz kişiden biri kanser nedeniyle hayatını kaybediyor. Yani her kanser ölümle sonuçlanmadığı için, kanserden ölüm sıklığı, kanser görülme sıklığını yansıtmamaktadır. Gelişmiş ülkelerde kanser görülme oranı yüz binde 400 civarındadır. Bizde ise bu oran yüz binde 200 civarında tahmin edilmektedir. Bu da her yıl yaklaşık 150 bin yeni kanser hastası demektir. Medical Park Bursa Hastanesi Genel Cerrahi Uzmanı Op. Dr. Güven Atasoy, kanser hakkında merak edilenleri yanıtladı:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Kanser nasıl oluşur?</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Normalde, canlıların vücudundaki hücrelerin pek çoğu, çoğalır, ömürleri tamamlanınca da ölüp yerlerini yeni hücrelere terk eder. Bu düzen, hücrelerin çekirdeklerinde bulunan kromozomlar üzerine yerleşik genlerin komut ve yönetimindedir. Eğer hücreler doğru olmayan komutla yönlendirilirse, işlevlerindeki normalden sapmalar yaşamın düzenini bozarak kanseri de içeren birçok hastalığa sebep olur. Kanserli dokunun hücreleri kontrolsüzce çoğalır. Bu nedenle, kanserin başlayışını araştıran son yıllardaki çalışmaların büyük bir grubu hücrenin içyapı ve işleyiş şekline yönelmiştir. Bu çalışmaların sonuçlarına göre, kanseri &#8220;başlatıcılar&#8221; ve &#8220;baskılayanlar&#8221; arasındaki uyumun bozulması hücrenin kanser hücresine dönüşümünü gerçekleştirmede olasıdır. Başlatıcılar hücrede bulunan fakat baskı altında tutulan kanser yapıcı genler, hücre ölümsüzlük genleri ve hücre büyüme faktörleridir. Hücrenin kanser hücresine dönüşünü baskılayanlar tümör baskılayıcı genler, planlanmış hücre ölümünü düzenleyen genler ve hücre büyüme faktörlerinin baskılayıcılarıdır. Başlatan etken ne olursa olsun sonuçta normal hücrelerden önemli farklar gösteren kanser hücreleri oluşur. Normal hücrelere oranla daha az özelleşmiş, sınırsız çoğalma ve doğal bağışıklık olanaklarından kaçabilme becerilerine sahip kanser hücreleri önce bulundukları dokuya sığamayarak bir kitle, bir süre sonra vücudun başka dokularına giderek yeni kitleler (metastaz) yaparlar.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Nasıl korunacağız?</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Kanser oluşumu için risk taşıdıkları düşünülen bu faktörlerden insanda ve laboratuvar araştırmalarında kanserle bağlantısı gözlenmiş olanlar kabul edilebilir, fakat kanserle bağlantısı kanıtlanmamış olanlar şüpheli risk faktörleridir. Ancak bu gözlem, araştırma ve görüşler yüksek riske sahip olanların mutlaka kanser olacakları ya da düşük riskli olanların kanser olmayacakları anlamını getirmez. Hücrelerin yapısı ve çalışmasından köken alan kişisel risk faktörleri kontrol edilemeyeceği için korunmak mümkün değildir. Kişisel faktörlerin önde gelenleri yaş, zaman ve ailedir. Yaş ve zaman hiçbir zaman kontrol edilemez ve bu nedenle korunamaz. Ancak, ailesel risk faktörlerine karşı bazı önlemler alınabilir. Büyükbaba ve büyükanneden başlayarak anne, baba, kardeşler, amcalar, dayılar, halalar, teyzeler ve ilk kuşak kuzenleri içine alan bir liste yapılır, eğer bir tanesinde kanser varsa, tipi ile birlikte kaydedilir, iki taneden fazla kanser çıkarsa bu konudaki bir uzmanla görüşülmelidir. Çevreden köken alan çevresel risk faktörlerini kontrol edebilmek için geniş olanaklar vardır. Bu grup faktörler arasında yaşanan çevrenin getirdiği riskler yanında önde gelenler besinler ve beslenme şekli, sigara önde olmak üzere diğer bazı alışkanlıklar ve radyasyona maruz kalmadır. Bunlardan başka hormonların dengesini dıştan müdahaleler ile bozmamak gerekir. Güneşin ultraviyole ışınları, özellikle iş yerleri ile bağlantılı bazı kimyasal maddeler ve kanserlerde rolü olduğu düşünülen virüsler dikkate alınmalıdır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Erkek ve kadın farklı hissedebiliyor</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Haberci belirtileri olmayan fakat yüksek riskli olan erkek ve kadınlarda kanserin erken teşhisi için bazı öneriler, zaman zaman bazı değişiklikler göstermekle beraber, temel olarak güncelliğini korumaktadır:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Yaş 20-39 (kontrol aralığı 3 yıl):</strong> Kadınlarda; ağız boşluğu, tiroit bezi, lenf bezleri ve yumurtalıklar önde gelmek üzere genel muayene ve ayrıca memelerin her ay kendi kendine kontrolü, PAP testi Erkeklerde; ağız boşluğu, tiroit bezi, lenf bezleri, testisler ve prostat önde gelmek üzere genel muayene.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Yaş 40-50 (kontrol aralığı 1 yıl):</strong> Kadınlar için yukarıdakilere ek olarak makattan tuşe ile muayene ve memelerin doktor kontrolü, kontrol aralığı 1-2 yıl olarak mamografi, ayrıca menopoz döneminde kürtaj ile rahim kontrolü. Erkekler için yukarıdakilere ek olarak makattan tuşe ile prostat muayenesi.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Yaş 50 ve üzeri (kontrol aralığı 3-5 yıl):</strong> Kadınlarda yukarıdakilere ek olarak dışkıda kanama testi, kalın barsak endoskopisi ve mamografi. Erkeklerde yukarıdakilere ek olarak dışkıda kanama testi, gerekirse kalın barsak endoskopisi.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>KANSERİN 7 HABERCiSi</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Kanser için bütün ülkelerce kabul edilmiş özel tehlike işaretlerinin, diğer bir deyimle kanserin 7 habercisinin;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•Bağırsak ve mesane alışkanlıklarının değişiklikleri,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•İyileşmeyen yaralar,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•Zamansız kanama ve akıntı,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•Meme veya başka yerde sertlik,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•Hazımsızlık veya yutma güçlüğü,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•Benler veya bir siğilin belirgin değişikliği,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">•Hırıltılı öksürük veya ses kısıklığı belirtilerinden her hangi birinin varlığında kişiler bir doktora başvurmalıdır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Evreleri önemse</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Kanserden mutlak korunma söz konusu olmadığına ve tüm kanserleri engelleyecek bir aşı henüz bulunmadığına göre, kanserde erken tanı elimizdeki belki de en önemli silah olma özelliğini korumaktadır. Her kanser tipi ayrı özellikler göstermekle beraber, genellikle kanser hastalığının gidişi dört klasik evreye ayrılır:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Evre I:</strong> Kanser, başladığı yerde sınırlı kalmıştır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Evre II:</strong> Kanser, başladığı ortamdan etrafındaki dokulara doğru ilerlemiştir.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Evre III:</strong> Kanser, bölgesel dokulara ve lenf bezlerine tam yayılım vardır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Evre IV:</strong> Kanser, diğer dokular ve organlara ulaşmıştır ve metastaz denilen olay gelişmiştir.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Kanserde erken tanı tedavi şansını arttırır ve tedaviyi kolaylaştırır, doku ve organ kaybını önler, tedavi giderlerini ve ölüm oranlarını düşürür. Bugün sıklıkla görülen birçok kanserde erken tanı gerçek anlamda hayat kurtarmaktadır. Erken tanı için belirli aralıklarla sıhhat kontrolü yalnız kanser için değil, genel sıhhat için uygulanması gerekli olan görüştür.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Farkındayız, kanseri yeneceğiz&#8230;</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Bilgi eksikliği, korku ve ihmal gibi nedenlerle insanların doktora zamanında başvurmamaları kanserin tedavisini güçleştirir. Hepimizin, adını ağzımıza almaya korktuğumuz hastalıkların başında gelir kanser. Açıkçası benim de böyleydi&#8230; Biz ne kadar ağzımıza almasak da kanserin adını duymamızı hiçbir şey engelleyemiyor. Bir gün bir yakınımızın kapısını çalıyor&#8230; Ve belki de bir gün bizim kapımızı çalacak! Kanseri araştırmayan bir insan için bunun ne denli korkutucu olduğu aşikardır. Ancak, araştırınca ve gelişen tıp teknolojisinin de tesiriyle bu hastalıktan da artık eskisi gibi korkmanın manasız olduğunu gördüm. Buna rağmen yine de halk sağlığı yönünden kanserin önemi; bazı kanser türlerinin sık görülmesidir. Bu açıdan bakıldığında kanser dünyanın ve ülkemizin en önemli sıhhat sorunları arasında yer almaya devam ediyor. Kanserle savaşabilmek, zararlarını azaltabilmek için halka hastalığın önemini ve kanserle savaş yollarını anlatmak gerekiyor.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Çare zakkum tenceresi mi?</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Suiistimale son derece açık bir konu olmasından dolayı, bugün her ülkede, hiçbir bilimsel temeli olmayan ve araştırmalara kapalı yöntemlerle kanserde şifa sağladığını iddia eden kişiler bulunduğunu itiraf etmek gerekiyor</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Uluslararası Kanserle Savaş Birliğinin açıklamasına göre, Kuzey Amerika ve Batı Avrupa ülkelerinde dahi kanser hastalarının %50 kadarının etkinliği kanıtlanmamış yöntemleri kullandıkları sanılıyor. Bu yöntemler bilimsel yöntemlerin yerine veya onlara ek olarak kullanılıyor ve bu uygulamalar çok defa doktorların bilgisi dışında yapılıyor. Bu kişiler, doğal ürünleri uyguladıklarını, ürünlerinin yan etkilerinin olmadığını, bu ürünlerin hastaların savunma mekanizmalarını harekete geçirdiğini, ürünlerinin her çeşit habis hastalığa ve ayrıca bu gruptan tamamen ilgisiz diğer birçok hastalığa etkili olduğunu iddia etmektedirler.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>CİDDİYE ALMAYIN</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Bir sır veya mucize olan tedaviyi, buluşları çalınabileceği için, yalnız kendilerinin verebileceklerini ifade ederler, tedavi ile şifa sağladıkları eski hastalarından mektuplar ve şahitlere sahip olduklarını ileri sürerler, tanınmış kişileri bu düşünce ve yöntemlerin destekleyicisi olarak gösterir ve başarısızlıklarını yönteme değil, hastaya yüklerler. Klasik tıbba karşı ciddi bir sorun olan bu uygulamalara hastaların yaklaşımı için çeşitli nedenler var. Önde gelen neden korkudur. Çünkü, genelde kanser birçok kişiye göre kısa sürede ağrılı ölümle eş anlamlıdır ve doktorun iyileşme için güvence veremediği durumlarda korku daha çok artar. Ayrıca, klasik kanser tedavisi şekil bozukluğu, yanık, bulantı ve kusma, saç dökülmesi seksüel yetmezlik endişesi ve bağışıklık sisteminin bozulması gibi sonuçlara da varabileceğinden, hasta bilimsel tedavi süresince kendisinin yapabileceği çok az şey olduğunu düşünerek tedavi ve iyileşme yolunda daha aktif olacağı olanakları sunan yöntemleri tercih edebilmektedir.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>UZMANDAN ŞAŞMA</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Ancak, bu kişiler, bu çare ve yöntemler şifa sağlayamadıkları gibi, ayrıca, kalifiye bir doktorun tedaviye başlayarak şifa elde etme zamanını ve şifa olanağını da azaltırlar. Bu nedenlerle, kanserin ne olup/olmadığını ve bilimsel tıbbın ne olduğunu ve ne yaptığını çok iyi bilmek gerekir. Her ne kadar &#8220;doğaya dönüş&#8221; günümüz modası olsa da bilim ve teknoloji inançsızlığını da kabul etmek mümkün değildir. Kanser tedavisi konunun uzmanları olan doktorlar tarafından yapılmalıdır. Bilim ve akıl yolundan sapmak, yalnızca zaman kaybına ve bilimsel gerçeğin ışığından uzaklaşmaya yol açar.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Tedavide geç kalmayın&#8230;</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Kanserde erken teşhis tedavi şansını arttırır, kolaylaştırır, doku ve organ kaybını önler ve sakatlık bırakmaz, tedavi giderlerini azaltır. Kanserde daha güvenilir teşhis yöntemleri ve daha etkili tedavi şekilleri her geçen gün yeni bir aşama göstermektedir.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Cerrahi Onkoloji:</strong> Genellikle organ kanserlerinde ilk tedavi seçeneğidir. Bu tedavide kanserli doku ve yöresel lenf bezleri ameliyat ile çıkarılır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Radyasyon Onkolojisi:</strong> Kanserli doku ve yöresel lenf bezlerindeki kanser hücrelerinin çoğalmasını önleme ve öldürülmesine yönelik radyoaktif ışınlama tedavisini uygulayan uzmanlık dalıdır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Tıbbi Onkoloji:</strong> Kanser ilaçlarını uygulayan uzmanlık dalıdır. Ayrıca kanserlerin bir grubu yalnız ilaçlarla tedavi edilebilmektedir. Tıbbi onkoloji uzmanlığının tedavide kullandığı ilaçların sayısı, alanı ve uygulama yöntemleri gün geçtikçe genişlemektedir.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Kemoterapi:</strong> Tıbbi onkolojinin uyguladığı ilk tedavi yöntemidir. Kanser hücresinin öldürülmesine yönelik ilaçlarla yapılan bu tedavi son yıllarda büyük aşama göstermiştir. Kemoterapi ameliyatlar ile birlikte de kullanılmaktadır. Erken dönemde teşhis edilen hastalarda, saptanması mümkün olamayan mikroskobik yayılmalar olabilir görüşü içerisinde, birçok kanserde ameliyat sonrası kemoterapi uygulanmaktadır. Aynı görüş içerisinde ya da ameliyat edilemez durumda olan hastalarda ameliyat öncesi kemoterapi yapılmaktadır. Kemoterapi bazı kanserlerde radyoterapi beraberliğinde uygulanmaktadır. Ayrıca kemoterapinin tek başına sonuç aldığı bazı kanserler de vardır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Biyolojik tedaviler:</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Biyolojik tedavilerde temel yaklaşım insanın normal hücrelerinin bütünlük ve çalışmasını bozmayacak şekilde sonuca ulaşmaya yöneliktir. Biyolojik düzenleyiciler adı altında toplanan ilaçların kanser hücresini öldürmekten çok genellikle tümörün gelişim olayına etkili oldukları kabul edilmektedir. Bu grupta vücudun temelde mevcut olan savunma sistemini düzenleyen veya eksiklerini tamamlayan bağışıklık uyarıcılar, bozuk genleri onaranlar, hücre bölünmesini durduranlar, tümör dokusunun damar yapmasını önleyiciler, kanser hücresini intihara zorlayanlar ve yayılmayı engelleyenler bulunmaktadır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Hormonlar:</strong> Bir grup kanserin hormon bağımlı olduklarını bilinmektedir. Bu grup kanserlerin tedavisinde hormonların sentezini veya etkisini önlemeye yönelik ilaçlar kullanılmaktadır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Ve beslenme&#8230;</strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Görgüler ve araştırmalara dayalı sayısal değerlendirmelere göre, kanserin olası sebepleri arasında dengesiz beslenme yüzde 35 oranında yer tutmaktadır ve dengesiz beslenmenin yanına bazı yaşam alışkanlıkları eklenirse bu oran yüzde 85 değerine kadar yükselmektedir.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Antioksidanlar: İnsanda DNA yapılarını değiştirerek tümör gelişmesine zorlayan maddelere karşı vücudu korudukları varsayılıyor.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Fitokimyasallar: Antioksidan, besin koruyucu ve kanser yapıcı ajanlara karşı engelleyici etkileri olabileceği bildirilmektedir. Domates, maydanoz, portakal gibi koyu sarı, yeşil meyve ve sebzelerde karotenoidler; brokoli, lahana, şalgam gibi turpgiller grubunda indoller; yeşil çay, soğan, elma, fasulye gibi meyve ve sebzelerde flavonoidler; limongiller ve trunçgillerde biflavonoidler; soğan ve sarımsakta alisin; yeşil yapraklı sebzelerde lutein; soya fasulyesinde isoflavonlar; ahududu gibi mavi ve kırmızı meyvelerde ve sebzelerde antosiyaninler; zeytinde, limongillerde, baklagillerde fenolikler ve domateste likopen gündemde olanlardır. Yüksek fitokimyasal maddeli yiyecekler brokoli, dutlar, soya kabukları, armutlar, şalgamlar, kereviz, havuç, ıspanak, zeytinler, domates, mercimek, sarımsak, kayısı, soğanlar, soya fasulyesi, yeşil çay, şeftali, kıvırcık ve Brüksel lahanadır.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Omega-3 yağ asitleri: Deniz ürünleri, keten tohumu yağı ve fasulyede bulunan bu asitlerin meme ve prostat kanserleri risk ve gelişmesini önlemede rolleri olabileceği bildirilmektedir.</p>
